Quality assurance (QA) is a way by which we prevent mistakes or defects in manufactured products . It hold true in terms of providing services also. When we are delivering any services to our customers if we do a quality check we can avoid problems . ISO 9000 defines Quality assurance as "part of quality management focused on providing confidence that quality requirements will be fulfilled".
What is defect prevention? In quality assurance defect prevention differs a little from defect detection and rejection in quality control, and has been referred to as a shift left as it focuses on quality earlier in the process.
quality assurance is any systematic process of checking to see whether a product or service being developed is meeting specified requirements.
QA is applied to physical products in pre-production to verify what will be made meets specifications and requirements, and during manufacturing production runs by validating lot samples meet specified quality controls. Quality assurance systems emphasize catching defects before they get into the final product.
So that means QA comes first and QC comes second in the process.
QA is also applied to software to verify that features and functionality meet business objectives, and that code is relatively bug free prior to shipping or releasing new software products and versions.
What is the role of ISO 9000 in QA?
ISO 9000 is an international standard that is used by companies to ensure that their quality assurance system is in place and effective. Therefore a companies conformance to ISO 9000 is said to guarantee that the company delivers quality products and services.
There are certain quality assurance policies and objectives which must be adhered to by a company for its compliance to ISO 9000.
Quality assurance comprises administrative and procedural activities implemented in a quality system so that requirements and goals for a product, service or activity will be fulfilled.
It is the systematic measurement, comparison with a standard, monitoring of processes and an associated feedback loop that confers error prevention. This can be contrasted with quality control, which is focused on process output.
Two principles included in quality assurance are:
- "Fit for purpose" (the product should be suitable for the intended purpose); and
